No person will be authorized to purchase vehicles and valuable antiques as gifts. The President, Prime Minister, Cabinet members and government representatives will be authorized to purchase gifts worth less than $300 at market value.
According to the policy, gifts worth more than 300 dollars will be owned by the state and the public will be able to buy them at open auction. After the implementation of the policy, the gold and silver coins will be handed over to the State Bank.
Apart from the President and the Prime Minister, people other than the President will be banned from receiving gifts for their families. According to the new policy, the value of gifts will be determined by FBR officers and private firms. It should be remembered that Federal Minister Ahsan Iqbal had voluntarily paid the full price of the gifts taken from Tosha Khana yesterday.Ahsan Iqbal deposited 19 lakh 19 thousand rupees in the government treasury and also wrote a letter to the Secretary Cabinet Division after full payment. The letter said that the gifts were received legally in 2018 as per government rules.
