India SCO Meeting: FM Bilawal Holds Talks with Russian Counterpart Lavrov

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari met with Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov during the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) meeting, discussing bilateral, regional, and international issues of mutual interest. They vowed to extend cooperation in areas such as food security, energy, and people-to-people contact.

Bhutto-Zardari highlighted Pakistan’s commitment to the SCO and its charter, emphasizing the importance of engaging with SCO member countries. The foreign ministers of SCO member states will discuss economic coordination and regional security during the two-day meeting in Goa, India. This marks the first visit of a high-ranking Pakistani government official to India since 2014.

While attending the SCO meeting, the Foreign Minister will also meet with counterparts from friendly countries. However, Bhutto-Zardari’s visit to Goa has been criticized by PTI leader and former information minister Fawad Chaudhry, who questioned the need for an in-person meeting in light of ongoing tensions between Pakistan and India.
