Wahab Riaz took charge as Advisor for Sports and Youth Affairs

Will try to take all possible steps to promote sports in Punjab, youth come forward and participate in various sports activities: Cricketer

Test cricketer Wahab Riaz has taken the charge of Advisor to Chief Minister Punjab Mohsin Naqvi on Sports and Youth Affairs. Sports Adviser met Punjab Secretary Sports Shahid Zaman and DG Sports Mohammad Tariq Qureshi at their office at National Hockey Stadium Lahore. Shahid Zaman and Tariq Qureshi informed Wahab Riaz about the future plans.


The advisor was given a presentation about upcoming events and development works. The national cricketer-turned-administrator player assured that he would take all possible steps to promote sports in the province. He said that we will try to take all possible measures for the promotion of sports in Punjab. Youth come forward and participate in various sports activities.

“We will ensure that all resources are utilized and all stakeholders are on board,” he added. Wahab Riaz was named Sports Minister in the caretaker government of Punjab. He requested the provincial government to allow him to play the recently concluded Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 8 before taking oath. After the success of PSL 8, the cricketer has now taken the charge of the consultant game. Wahab Riaz represented Peshawar Zalmi under the captaincy of Babar Azam in PSL 8. Wahab took 10 wickets in 11 matches this year. Overall he is the highest wicket taker in PSL with 113 wickets.
