The Ministry of Religious Affairs has confirmed that Pakistan has returned the quota to Saudi Arabia while demanding to increase the Hajj quota. According to the sources, the Hajj quota had to be returned due to the low number of applications received under the government scheme, if the Hajj quota was not returned, an additional 24 million dollars would have to be paid in the form of accommodation rent and other expenses.
It has been reported that there has been a long-standing demand of Pakistan to increase the Hajj quota so that more than 200,000 Pakistani pilgrims can perform Hajj every year, but this year many Pakistanis could not apply due to the high cost of Hajj. Due to the corona epidemic, Pakistan was not getting the usual Hajj quota in the past years, the usual Hajj quota was restored this year, however, due to the most expensive Hajj package in the history of the country, the desire of thousands of Pakistanis to perform Hajj was not fulfilled. after which the federal cabinet decided to return the Hajj quota.
According to the sources, a total quota of 89 thousand 605 Hajj pilgrims was set under the official scheme, however, about eight thousand less applications than the quota were received for the official Hajj scheme. It should be remembered that Hajj expenses increased by 200%. In the last Hajj policy of Tehreek-e-Insaf, Hajj expenses were more than 4 lakh rupees, this year Hajj expenses will be more than 12 lakh rupees.
