A notorious Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and Al-Qaeda member was killed during a police encounter near Fateh Moor in Dera Ismail Khan, as reported by authorities on Thursday. Iqbal alias Bali Khayara, a highly sought-after terrorist, had a combined reward of Rs10.5 million offered by the Punjab and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa police for his capture, dead or alive.
Iqbal and one of his accomplices were killed after attacking the police, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Police Inspector-General Akhtar Hayat Khan informed a local media channel. He revealed that Iqbal was linked to 26 terrorist attacks and targeted assassinations.
DI Khan police authorities have confirmed Iqbal’s involvement in the recent suicide bombing at the District Headquarters Hospital and the 2009 attack on the Sri Lankan cricket team in Lahore.
